The Arctica Race Cape and Warm Up Coat are the best protection from the elements for ski racers while racing and training. It’s not easy to keep warm when standing in line for your start. You can’t wear a jacket and pants over your speed suit in the line up. Even though full side zip pants are really pretty easy to take off quickly, it’s still cumbersome and a bother when getting ready to race. You need something that you can basically just hang over you to protect you from the elements and keep you warm. You need a Race Cape or Warm Up Coat.
Arctica Race Cape
The best option for ski racers to keep warm while standing in line for your start is an Arctica Race Cape. Not only is it waterproof and windproof, but it is insulated with Heat40 lightweight insulation to keep you warm. This large, looser fit cape fits over your shoulders and body so you can keep your arms and hands inside and warm. It has a hood that fits over helmets to keep the wind and snow out. Easy velcro closure and pass through welts for your arms make getting the cape on and off quick and easy – without taking your gloves off. One color. One size fits all. Hands down this is THE best option for ski racers to keep warm and dry in the start line.
Arctica Warm Up Coat
Another good alternative to traditional jacket and pants on race day is the Arctica Warm Up coat. The warm up coat is more like a race cape you can ski in. It’s got a little more construction to it than just a cape, but not quite as much as a full ski jacket. You can wear it all day between racing because it has arms and a close enough fit to ski in. Yet it is simple enough to easily remove when your number gets called. The sleeves are full enough to slip on and off with your gloves on so your hands will not get cold.
The Warm Up Coat has a helmet compatible hood, extra large zipper with double slider, two exterior hand warmer pockets and an interior zipper pocket. It’s available in black, sky (light blue) and optic yellow and two sizes – small and large. Waterproof and Breathable with Heat80 insulation, this loose fitting mid-thigh length jacket will keep you warm and dry on race day in your ski race suit.
For the entire team
Race Capes and Warm Up Coats with team logos make a great statement at a race start. A nice piece of equipment for every ski racer to have, but also a very viable piece of gear for the team to purchase to have for it’s member each year. Since the Race Cape is one size fits all and the Warm Up coat only comes in two sizes – it makes it easy to share these items amongst team members from year to year.
Give your ski racer or ski team the best shot at a good finish by starting off the race warm, dry and comfortable. An Arctica Race Cape or Warm Up Jacket will keep them protected from the elements right up to when their number is called.
