Although the Arctica Pinnacle Down Jacket is specifically designed for early morning gate training in frigid temperatures, it doesn’t look like it is. It’s as stylish as it is functional and warm. This down jacket looks at home on the ski hill, during race training or around town.
Our warmest ski jacket
Designed specifically for skiing on the coldest of days, the Pinnacle Down uses 650 fill power goose down to trap you body heat and keep you warm. Unlike most puffy down jackets, this down jacket has an internal powder skirt with snaps and a gripper elastic stretch panel to keep snow out. It also has an adjustable drawcord hem to keep cold air out and trap warm air in. Internal and external storm flaps insure that you don’t feel any wind coming through the main center zipper either. The removable helmet compatible hood on this ski jacket is also insulated and has an adjustable opening, making windy days on the lift cozy and warm. Velcro adjustable cuffs make the sleeves cinch down nicely to fit inside glove gauntlets for extra warmth as well. All of these things add up to one incredibly warm ski jacket.
Durable fabric
The Pinnacle Down Jacket utilizes Dura10, our durable waterproof, breathable nylon fabric in the high impact areas like the shoulders and top of arms and sides of torso. It utilizes our lightweight, strong and durable Duralite on the chest and back. As a result, the Pinnacle Down jacket has a distinctive two-tone look. Consequently, it also looks slimmer on than most puffy down jackets.
The shoulders, outer arms and sides of the torso are matte black. These areas are highly resistant to gate burn and cuts from sharp skis. The front and back faces, underarm and hood have a shinier look. This fabric is windproof, down proof and water resistant. The inside of this jacket features a smooth, fun, bright blue lining that slips easily over multiple layers or a speed suit and back protector.
Lot’s of pockets
The other thing the Pinnacle Down Training Jacket has that many other down jackets do not is lot’s of pockets. We know you need to carry lots of stuff with you on the hill. Since there aren’t any pockets in your GS suit, you’ve got to stuff it all in your jacket. Well, this jacket has a pocket for everything.
There are two large zippered hand warmer pockets on your sides that you could fill with snacks. A zippered pass pocket near your left wrist that works well for your ski pass and a lip balm or Dermatone. There is an external zippered chest pocket on your left side and an internal zippered pocket on your right. Either of these chest pockets is large enough for a phone, radio, iPod – or all three! In addition to these five securely zippered pockets, there are 2 internal cargo pockets. These large mesh pockets will easily hold a balaclava, extra pair of goggles or hat for apres ski.
Not your average black puffy
This unisex jacket was made for skiing and ski race training. And made with the ski racer in mind. As we have long known in many sports – racing improves the breed. Skiing is no exception. The high standards required to meet the rigors of daily race training in frigid temperatures have created a superior down ski jacket that works well for recreational skiers too. The Pinnacle Down Training Jacket is a warm, attractive, high quality down ski jacket at a great price.
