You asked. We listened. Arctica continues to revolutionize ski racing with new race gloves and mitts that are everything you’ve always wanted.
We’ve stood on the side of the hill and listened to race parents. We have spent time at race fit days. We have our own kids that race and have been through it time and time again. Just like our original mission to solve the “side zip pant problem” (that turned into building a ski apparel brand), we have now solved the “race glove problem”.
We’ve created full leather race gloves and mitts that are warm, durable and dry. In addition to uber functional, they are also very good looking, comfortable and an outstanding value.
The new Arctica Race Gloves and Mitts are made of goatskin leather, which is very warm, breathable and very comfortable to wear. Additionally, for optimal warmth and dexterity we utilize zoned insulation. We use a double layer of HEAT100 insulation on the back of the hand. Giving you 200g of insulation where the wind hits the most, for the ultimate in warmth. This is TWO-TIMES more insulation on the back of the hand than other glove manufacturers use. Then we use HEAT80 insulation on the palm for warmth with increased dexterity and flexibility and superior pole grip.
Durable and protective
Arctica gloves and mitts are made to last. All seams are double stitched for added strength and durability. Additionally the goatskin leather not only makes them warm, it also makes them super durable. Unlike some gloves that are made of cowhide or a combination of leather and synthetics, the Arctica Race Gloves and Mitts feature full goatskin leather construction. Goatskin is a very good all-around leather. It is lighter than cowhide, yet still super durable, and quite supple. It is also used for motorcycle jackets and some military jackets worn by the USAF.
For protection from gate strikes and the abrasiveness of snow there are shock absorber temper foam padded knuckles on both the glove an mitt. This thicker padding also provides additional wind barrier to your hands. For extra protection from the sharp edges of race skis there is an extra safety panel at the front of the palm affixed with strong, H lines stitching.
Waterproof and dry
We know what a long day on the hill can do to a pair of gloves. By nature, goatskin leather is highly water resistant. With proper care and use this leather will remain water resistant for a long time. We have taken extra precautions and included our Racetec Hipora waterproof/breathable liner. This creates a barrier between the outer shell and the insulation. Guaranteeing dry hands even on the longest, wettest of days.
Comfortable and good looking
The Arctica Race Gloves and Mitts feature pre-curved anatomic construction. They also have stretch panels on the fingers, thumb and back of the hand for additional comfort and dexterity. In addition to being pre-curved for your comfort, goatskin leather -which contains lanolin, requires very little break in. So these gloves and mitts are supple and flexible from the start. They will quickly become super comfortable, just like your favorite pair of jeans.
The goatskin leather has a pleasing “pebble” grain look and is 3D embossed with the arctica logo on the padded knuckle for a subtle race-inspired look. We use only drum dyed leather for a richer look. This requires a better quality raw material than when dying the surface, but means that the leather is colored all the way through and retains its natural appearance and characteristics.
Anyone can create a glove or mitt that is warm, durable and dry. There are several of them on the market – they cost over twice as much as these gloves and mitts. Our challenge was to produce a glove that is all of these things, yet priced within reach of those who need it the most. Arctica takes pride in creating products that are feature rich and of exceptional value for the money.
The new Arctica Race Gloves and Mitts are fully engineered for optimal fit and performance at a price that won’t break the bank. Make sure you never hear, “my fingers are cold” again. Pre-order your Arctica Goat Leather Race Gloves and Mitts now for delivery by October 1.
