In Michigan Division 2 ski racing, the boys from Petoskey High School ski team are a force to be reckoned with. This past week at Boyne Highlands in Harbor Springs, the boys on the Petoskey ski team captured their 7th straight Division 2 State Championship. S-E-V-E-N-T-H. Seventh. That means they have been on top seven years in a row.
For those of you who are not from Michigan, winning Division 2 is not just beating all of the other Division 2 teams. At State Championships in Michigan Division 1 competes by itself and then Division 2, 3 and 4 all compete against each other for the title. That’s a lot f ski racer to compete against!
Big North Conference Title
In addition to winning their 7th straight Division 2 State Championships, the boys on the Petoskey High School ski team also took home the Big North Conference trophy this season. Four Petoskey racers were also awarded All-Conference honors; senior Mitch Makela finished as the boys individual champion, Ethan Siegwart earned fifth place, earning six top five finishes over the year, David Paquette placed eighth with six top 10 finishes and Riley Norton earned an 11th place finish in the league, with four top 10 finishes.
