A big shout out to our friend and Arctica Ambassador, Anastasia Seator-Braun of Mammoth Lakes, California. Although this ski racing season has barely begun, she has already received three very special accolades that are directly related to her dedication to ski racing and a testament to her personality and work ethic.
Anastasia spends her winters training and racing on the Mammoth Mountain Ski Team and her summers training and racing in New Zealand. In previous year’s she trained in New Zealand with Stockman Sports, but this past season she trained with the Cardona Alpine Ski Team.
For this ski racing season, she received a Mammoth Mountain Community Foundation Ambassador Award, she was invited to the Far West Masters Junior Camp in Colorado, and she was nominated for two regional awards for high school athletes in New Zealand.
Mammoth Mountain Community Foundation ambassador award
The Mammoth Mountain Community Foundation (MMCF) Ambassador Award recognizes outstanding achievement by Mammoth Ski and Snowboard Team members.
Tucked on the east side of the Sierra Nevada mountains, Mammoth is home to a unique and diverse community. The Mammoth Mountain Community Foundation aims to enrich the community by focusing on its most important members — the youth. By furthering the academic and athletic opportunities for the community’s youth, MMCF works to make sure every child can be their best selves, in the classroom, out in the mountains, and as human beings.
They chose six applicants as Mammoth Mountain Community Foundation Ambassadors for 2018. Each received a cash reward. This year they had 26 applicants who are all contributing members of their communities, proficient athletes and generous public servants. The applicants wrote eloquent essays, and many have GPA’s over 4.5. A few athletes had over 80 hours of volunteerism in one year and many participated in elite athletics as well as multiple school sports and activities. It was a difficult decision for their committee to choose just six ambassadors, but Anastasia Seator-Braun was one of them who made the final cut.
Far West Masters invite-only junior camp
This ski racing season, Anastasia has been invited to attend a private ski racing training camp by invite only in Colorado. The athletes who are invited are selected from the group of athletes that are Far West Masters Scholarship recipients. Far West Masters scholarships are awarded based on a combination of financial need, ski racing potential and exemplary work ethic. Past scholarship recipients include US Ski Team members Marco Sullivan, Stacey Cook, Tim Jitloff, and Travis Ganong.
Regional award nominations in New Zealand
After a successful summer of ski racing in New Zealand with the Cardona Alpine Ski Team, Anastasia Seator-Braun was notified she was nominated for the Ray White Whanganui Sports Award for International Sports Woman of the Year and the Ray White Whanganui Secondary Schools Sports Award for High School International Sports Woman of the Year. The Ray White Whanganui Sports Awards are an annual event run by Sport Whanganui with the purpose of celebrating the regions sporting achievements. The 2018 Awards seek to recognize excellence and dedication to regional sport across the Whanganui, Rangitikei and Ruapehu districts during the time period of October 1, 2017 to September 30, 2018.
Congratulations, Anastasia! We’re proud of your achievements.
