Celebrating their 50th Anniversary
The Totem Pole Ski Shop is the oldest family owned ski shop in Vermont. The walls of the Ludlow ski shop are decorated with skiing and ski racing photos and memorabilia from the last 50 years of business. This family oriented ski shop is open full-time October – April and by appointment in the summer months. While they don’t currently sell online, they do grind skis and fit ski boots all year ’round.
The Totem Pole Ski Shop has a long history with the world of competitive skiing. Ken, the founder of the ski shop, was a very accomplished freestyle skier in his day and his son Torin, a elite level alpine ski racer. The two of them and their staff of up to 40 people in the winter do a great job at servicing the needs of Okemo Mountain Resort skiers.
Totem Pole Ski Shop Specializes in Ski Racing
Totem Pole has the largest selection of ski racing equipment in Ludlow. They stock the most Arctica full side zip pants in Vermont, and also have the largest selection of ski racing suits in the area.
Located in town, just minutes from the mountain and Okemo Mountain School (OMS), they are perfectly poised to service the Okemo Mountain Alpine Racing Association (OMARA), the largest junior ski racing program in the US. They carry Blizzard, Dynastar, Fischer, Head, and Volkl race skis.
Totem Pole is committed to alpine ski racers, and keeping them competition legal on the slopes. They custom built their own FIS Stack Height Measuring Device to insure their elite level ski racers meet the FIS/USSA rules. This device is the only one of it’s kind in Vermont.
Expert boot fitting
Torin is an ABC Board Certified Pedorthist. Torin and the staff are known for ‘fixing boot problems’. Two years ago, after foot injury and many boot problems, US Nordic Ski Team Member, Olympian and World Cup Champion Jessie Diggins turned to the Totem Pole for their boot fitting expertise. Largest Selection of Twin Tips in the area
Not just a ski racing shop, they also have the largest selection of twin tips in the area – and quite possibly in all of Central Vermont. With a nod to Ken’s freestyle days, they continue to service the needs of the moguls skiers and park-n-pipe crowd. In addition to twin tips from the leading players in the ski industry, they also carry twin tips from Liberty, Line, 4Frnt and Armada. As well as the twin tip crowds’ favorite ski boot – Full Tilt.
Largest Rental Fleet in Ludlow
Totem Pole Ski Shop has the most rental skis off mountain in the area. Their ski rental area is well set up to quickly and efficiently handle large volumes of ski renters on busy Vermont ski weekends. In addition to daily all-mountain recreational ski rentals for Okemo Mountain visitors, they also have a junior season lease program and they do speed ski rentals. Ski Tuning That Gets Results
Totem Pole Ski Shop has the most advanced automated stone grinder in the world. They have a Montana Saphir automated stone grinder for base grinding and a Wintersteiger Trim Jet for ceramic disc side edging.

As you can see from the information on the white board outside of their ski tuning area – their ski tuning get results. They are currently the only ski shop in the area with a Wax Future infrared technology hot waxer. It is a World Cup tested waxing machine for snowboards and alpine and nordic skis. It offers the highest level of racing quality waxing results.
